4. The Morden Lazarus Prize for best editorial, column, or opinion piece that thoughtfully argues labour’s position on an issue [ENGLISH ONLY]. Submit hard copy or URL. Include the author’s name.

5. The Cliff Scotton Prize for a narrative, video, audio or visual that reflects history, traditions and culture of the labour movement [ENGLISH ONLY]. Submit hard copy or URL. Include the creator's name.

6. The Fighting Oppression Award for a communications initiative that raises consciousness and contributes to struggles against racism, sexism, homophobia, ableism and other forms of oppression and discrimination [ENGLISH ONLY]. Submit one initiative, along with a covering note explaining how it achieved change in your organizatio

7. Best campaign. Please include in your submission a write-up about the campaign, the kinds of      material you produced for this campaign, and the successes that the campaign led to.

8. The Katie FitzRandolph Award for best overall regular print publication. Best combined use of writing, graphics, design, editorial content and judgment. Enclose only one edition.

9. Rosemarie Bahr award for excellence in print layout and design in regular print publication for imaginative and effective use of graphics, cartoons, photography, typography and layout. Submit only one edition.

10. Best opinion, news or feature story that demonstrates excellence in labour writing [FRENCH ONLY]. Submit up to three original stories.

11. Best short video, made for TV broadcast or online distribution. Submit URL or file and names of the individuals or agency who produced it.

12. Best narrative video, or video series documentary. Submit URL or file and names of the individuals or agency who produced it.

13. Best audio production: radio ad, podcast. Submit URL or file and names of the individuals or agency who produced it.

14. Best hard copy promotional material (posters, brochures, print ads, buttons, Frisbees etc). Submit sample by mail with a short explanation of where and how the material was used. It can be a set of different materials for the same campaign.

15. Dennis McGann Stroke-of-Genius Award for the most unusual, innovative, novel communications project.) Please attach a statement explaining why it was such a good idea along with any visuals that will aid your submission.

16. Best poster. Submit up to two entries in soft copy only (URL, PDF, JPG etc.).

Please indicate each category you're entering, and attach your entry to it. If you make an error, we should be able to catch it on our end and follow up (please avoid this). If you prefer to make separate entries for each of your awards, no problem: we'll link them together when we sort them. Do not submit awards here that you've already submitted via mail. You can only upload five files for each submission. To enter more files, please start another form. If your file is too big, you will receive an error message. Please follow up with CALM editors to send these files through other means (i.e. Dropbox, Google Drive etc.)

19. Best website redesign, volunteer-producedWe changed our logo and colours, so re-designed the newsletter and website. Our website volunteer has experience in web design and graphics. It is still a work-in-progress.

Features we wanted:-easy for members to navigate on their phones-front-page picture slider that can link to stories-automated RSS feed from CUPE BC and National (to save time)-front-page links to our newsletter, calendar, Facebook & twitter feeds-contact forms for address change, concerns, etc.-place for forms (shop steward info, scholarship applications, etc.)-password-protected roles (not used as yet)

It’s brand-new, still a work-in-progress, and this platform (Drupal 7) makes it easy for us to adapt in response to how our members use it. We still need to update the content, adding more stories from members and integrating content from our newsletter and social media.

2. Best Photograph, volunteer-produced.  Photographer: Karen RanallettaWe love the spontaneity in this shot!  We were ready for the usual stilted group shot, but Karen took us by surprise. This got us a lot of Likes on our Facebook page and reminds us that a Union can be a lot of fun!

8. The Katie FitzRandolph Award for best overall regular print publication, volunteer-produced.Like our website, our monthly newsletter was re-designed. We needed to keep certain elements, but wanted to update the design and content as much as possible. Again like our website, this is a work-in-progress.
