National Indigenous Peoples Day – June 21

Ottawa – June 21, 2019 – June 21 is National Indigenous Peoples Day. This is a day for all Canadians to recognize and celebrate the unique heritage, diverse cultures and outstanding contributions of First Nations, Inuit and Métis peoples. The Canadian Constitution recognizes these three groups as Aboriginal peoples, also known as Indigenous peoples.

Commissionaires security guards join the union – UFCW 333

Hamilton, Ont. – June 18, 2019 – Commissionaires security guards working at federal government buildings in Hamilton, Ontario are the newest members of UFCW Canada Local 333 after voting unanimously to join the union. The security guards work for the Hamilton branch of Commissionaires Canada, a non-profit security firm founded in 1925.
