ADMINISTRATIVE REPRESENTATIVE - ADMINISTRATION DEPARTMENT (IT Services) - BCGEU

INTERNAL/EXTERNAL POSTING January 3, 2019

 

The B.C. Government and Service Employees' Union requires a full stack developer and test automation developer to work in the IT Services section of the Administration Department. The successful applicant would be a part of a project team that develops new tools and applications for both members and staff of the BCGEU. The effective date to be determined.

DUTIES:

Together, the development team would develop and create software tools as designed, including web applications, mobile applications and database integrations. This position is responsible for the creation, maintenance, and execution of test automation (functional and end-to-end integration testing) to produce maintainable, stable test coverage to support the development of microservices, mobile and web applications, as well as defining an overall test automation strategy. Responsibilities will include designing test cases and testing, along with the other developers, all newly implemented functionality (security, performance and functional testing both automated and manual) as part of the regular sprint cycle.

QUALIFICATIONS:

5+ years of experience with full stack development including front end development and test automation development, knowledge of source code management systems, experience designing, implementing, documenting and integrating with APIs, expertise in at least one modern programming language.

Experience with PHP and associated frameworks including Laravel and with Atlassian tools and secure and Agile software development practices an asset.

  • Quickly learn new languages and assess and implement new tools

  • Work collaboratively in a team
  • Accept and provide constructive feedback
