Salary: $77,000 – $84,000 + Benefits

The Communication Officer position supports CUPE Local 905, representing 5,500 members in 25 bargaining units in the municipal sector. Reporting to the President, the Communication Officer will conceptualize, develop, and implement communication to advance CUPE Local 905’s strategic direction. Applicant must be proficient in digital, print, and interpersonal communications. Have knowledge of current labour, political, and social justice issues. Excitement about organizing, member engagement and mobilization is necessary, with a focus to build collective worker capacity through communication. Applicant must have working knowledge of digital campaign and social media products. Tactful and able to engage variety of internal and external partners - including political partners and media. Varied work hours including nights and occasional weekends, with ability to travel.
Education: Post-secondary degree/diploma or equivalent
Experience: Working experience in labour, political, or social justice organizations
