The Professional Institute of the Public Service of Canada requires a bilingual Communications Coordinator for its National Office.

We are seeking a Communications Coordinator to actively contribute to reaching our Communications Team’s goals, participate in our creative process and implement our digital communications strategies effectively. As the newest addition to our growing Communications team, we’re seeking a bilingual candidate with previous experience in digital communications, a fast-learner who shows a keen interest in continuing education and a team player who shares our passion for issues that are important to our members and the labour movement in Canada.

Our Communications team is an integral part of the Institute’s success. It speaks to our members, the broader public and the political decision-makers in Canada. It keeps our members informed and listens to their feedback. It ensures that all our communications to all audiences project the Institute’s values and objectives.

Our Communications Coordinators implement our digital communications strategies and collaborate on the planning, creating, editing, posting and analyzing of our digital contents.

The Position

  • Coordinate the design, production, translation, printing and publishing of communications and graphic design products

  • Build digital communications products including web postings, emails, newsletters, social media posts, web forms, etc.

  • Copy-edit and proofread communications products for internal and external audiences

  • Work with other team members to create, calendar, post, and monitor social media content promoting announcements, programs and engagement opportunities

  • In coordination with other team members, create and implement digital/social media ads to build a wide audience of members and external stakeholders. Provides regular reports on ad performance

  • Triage and respond to member inquiries and requests from various channels; promote engagement and audience growth on digital platforms

  • Track and analyze email, social media and paid advertisement metrics

  • Assist in setting and ensuring key performance indicators (KPIs) are met and creates internal reports on fulfillment of goals

  • Participate in the organization of the communication team projects and products including maintaining filing systems, databases and archives

  • Research and review the latest developments in social media channels, engagement strategies, email best practices, and analytics

Your Profile:

  • Successfully completed post-secondary education in communications, journalism, media studies or public relations, along with one to three years of related experience in the implementation of communications’ plans, writing, editing, and working with web, social media and associated systems, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.

  • Strong command of English and French 

Required Knowledge and Experience:

  • Knowledge of best practices in digital writing and mobilizing communities online

  • Ability to produce digital content and engagement opportunities for a variety of audiences

  • Ability to report and clearly communicate results to the team and suggest methods to increase engagement

  • Exceptional writing and editing skills

  • Experience with social media for business, including Google Adwords, Facebook Ads Manager and Power Editor, Twitter, Google Analytics, and social media monitoring/analysis tools;

  • Knowledge of NationBuilder or similar CRM and web platform

  • Flexibility and ability to multi-task with continually changing timelines and priorities

  • Excellent time management, organizational skills

  • Ability to manage multiple tasks within established deadlines, take initiative and work effectively within a team, and

  • Interest in the latest developments in web, news, and social media, as well as passion for the Institute’s mandate and the issues that are important to our members

  • Initiative, client focus and results oriented

  • Demonstrated  computer skills (Google Suite or MS Office, etc.)   

Salary and Benefits:

  • Permanent, full-time unionized position (35 hours/week)

  • Salary Range: $53,965 to $67,456 (G3)

  • Group Benefits (Health, Dental, Life Insurance, Disability Insurance)

  • Defined Benefit Pension Plan

  • Vacation (4 weeks/year) and other generous paid leave
