We are looking for a full-time permanent Communications Officer that will work out of the Edmonton office reporting to the Executive Liaison. This in-scope position will be responsible for developing, maintaining and assisting with both internal and external communication, campaigns and programs. This may include the writing of news and press releases, public statements, brochures, speeches, talking points and other material. The successful applicant will be instrumental in the development of the HSAA’s messages and media strategies as well as building and maintaining strong relationships with stakeholders.
What you bring:
You possess a post-secondary degree in a related field, such as Communications, Journalism, Public Relations or English. You have five years’ communications experience, which includes the creation of press releases, promotional materials, texts and related products. Equivalent education and work experience may be considered.
You are an energetic, self-motivated and organized individual with the ability to support and work collaboratively with many different stakeholders, both internal and external to HSAA. You express ideas clearly and concisely through both your writing and speech and are a master of the English language. You are driven by and adhere to deadlines in a fast-paced environment. You are familiar with public affairs and the current federal and provincial political landscapes and apply that knowledge to your work. You possess the ability to manage web content and leverage social media as a public relations tool in addition to your desktop publishing skills and experience in web design. You have a thorough understanding of and commitment to trade union values and public health care.
