Purpose of position: 

Under the direction of the Coordinator of Human Resources and the Supervisor of Pay and Benefits team, the position provides administrative assistance to the Pay and Benefits teams, assists in various payroll data entry and input capacities, and administers the PSAC Training portfolio. 


Education and Experience:

  • General administrative and payroll clerk knowledge and ability associated with successful completion of business and/or payroll training, or equivalent, normally acquired through several years of experience in providing administrative and payroll clerical services relevant to the duties of the position for a mid-size organization of unionized employees.


  • General knowledge of the PSAC and its role in the labour community.


  • Proficiency in the use of a personal computer, demonstrated experience and ability to work with word processing, databases and spreadsheet software at an intermediate to advance level and experience with an e mail software;
  • Ability to undertake word processing, perform mathematical calculations with spreadsheets, input data and run reports from human resources information systems, maintain databases and filing systems;
  • Demonstrated ability working with human resources integrated information systems, payroll and leave management systems;
  • Ability to work in an environment with various policies and collective agreements pertaining to the position’s responsibilities;
  • Strong knowledge of filing systems, both manual and computerized;
  • Strong oral and written communication skills in English and French;
  • Ability to use payroll software and applications;
  • Ability to independently organize, plan and determine work priorities in order to meet strict deadlines, in an environment with multiple and competing priorities;
  • Ability and willingness to contribute effectively in a team environment.
