Labour Relations Advisor: 6 MONTH TERM full-time position 

(February 1, 2020 – July 31, 2020)

SALARY: $95,837 to 112,750 per annum based on 75 hours bi-weekly

Are you a seasoned professional with a background in labour relations who is passionate about protecting the rights of unionized workers? Yukon Employees Union is seeking a collaborative, dedicated and highly motivated professional to join our team. Our Labour Relations Advisors provide representation, advocacy and support to the members of the Yukon Employees Union as well as provide training and advice to shop stewards of the various bargaining units throughout Yukon.

Reporting to the Executive Director, you are part of a larger team of professionals, working collaboratively to develop strong working relationships with employer representatives, local executives and the membership as a whole. The ability to manage a busy caseload and multi-task is an essential requirement of this position, as critical deadlines and changing priorities is the norm.

  • Diploma or undergraduate degree in Labour Relations, Human Resource Management, Disability Management or a related field;

  • Experience working in the field of labour relations, human resources, disability management or a field where representation and advocacy were core functions;

  • Strong written and oral communication skills and the ability to conduct legal research and produce written submissions;

  • Excellent conflict resolution skills, and a willingness to have difficult conversations with the goal of finding resolution;

  • Experience working in a unionized environment and ability to understand and apply the terms of a collective agreement;

  • Ability to work as a member of a team as well as independently while managing critical deadlines
