We are looking for a full time permanent Local Unit Advisor that will work out of the Edmonton office reporting to the Executive Liaison. This in-scope position will be responsible for performing a variety of functions related to the implementation of HSAA’s strategic plan as it relates to the engagement and support of the membership at the Local Unit level. The successful applicant will become a key team player that maintains effective communication between the Local Unit Executives and HSAA Head Office.
What you bring
You possess a post-secondary degree or diploma as well as three years’ experience actively working with a governance structure or organizing in a political or union environment. Preferably, you have obtained additional training in labour relations, political science, project management or education. Equivalent education and work experience will be considered.
You are an energetic, self-motivated and organized individual with the ability to support and work collaboratively with many different stakeholders, both internal and external to HSAA. You possess excellent facilitation skills and provide information through your outstanding verbal and written communication. You conduct first-rate research, have a wide-ranging knowledge of labour legislation and can apply it to strategic decisions. You are familiar with the current federal and provincial political landscapes and can apply that knowledge to your work. You have a thorough understanding of and commitment to trade union values and public health care. Extensive travel throughout Alberta is required for this position so you have access to your own vehicle and the ability to work flexible hours.
