Part 1 The Benefits of Digital Accessibility:

In this one hour webinar, we will explore the benefits of digital accessibility for people with different disabilities, the basics of Canadian accessibility legislation that relates to digital materials, and how some people access digital materials, including demonstrations of assistive technologies. In this one hour webinar, you will learn about ‘why’ digital accessibility is important, and then in the other webinars you will start to learn about the ‘what’ and ‘how’. The presentation is geared to a beginner and intermediate audience. No technical expertise is required, just have an interest in the subject.

Part 2 Making Websites and Social Media more Accessible: 
November 28, 2019 1230 PM EST

In this one hour webinar, we will explore some practical tips on how to start making your websites and social media feeds more accessible for everyone, including people with different disabilities. Practical examples from the labour and union communication areas will be used so that you can directly connect your work with the tips and concepts. In this webinar, you will learn the basics about the ‘what’ and ‘how’ of website and social media accessibility, so you can either confirm what you are already doing or learn new ways of making easy changes that can really make a difference! The presentation is geared to a beginner and intermediate audience. No technical expertise is required, just have an interest in the subject.

Part 3 Creating More Accessible Content:
December 5, 2019 1230 EST

In this one hour webinar, we will explore some practical tips on how to start making your content more accessible in social media, newsletters, websites, emails, etc. for everyone, including people with different disabilities, including those with cognitive, neurological, learning and intellectual disabilities. Practical examples from labour and union communication areas will be used so that you can directly connect your work with the tips and concepts. In this webinar, you will learn the basics about the ‘what’ and ‘how’ of making content more accessible, so you can either confirm what you are already doing or learn new ways of making easy changes that can really make a difference! The presentation is geared to a beginner and intermediate audience. No technical expertise is required, just have an interest in the subject.

Attending the live webinar allows registrants the opportunity to engage the presenter and ask questions.  If you are unable to attend the live webinar, a recording will be made available to registered participants.

 

About the presenter:
Lisa Snider is the Senior Digital Accessibility Consultant and Trainer in her company, Access Changes Everything

Since 1999, Lisa’s passion in life has been to make the digital world more accessible for people with disabilities in different North American settings and contexts. 

Lisa shares this knowledge through presentations, in-person and webinar training, user testing, audits, procurement consulting, etc. for a wide variety of North American organizations, governments and businesses, such as the Canadian Museum for Human Rights, Province of Nova Scotia, City of Winnipeg and National Network for Equitable Library Service.

Lisa was the Chair of the Province of Manitoba’s Accessibility for Manitobans Act, Information & Communications Standard Development Committee, was a Stakeholder in the W3C Accessibility Guidelines Working Group Silver Task Force (WCAG 2.1), is an invited member of the Microsoft Inclusive Workplace Customer Advisory Council, and is a member of the  ATHEN Microsoft Office, Microsoft Windows and the Microsoft Mac Outlook Accessibility Groups, collaborating with Microsoft to improve the accessibility of their products.
