Staff Officer – Teacher Welfare – MTS
The Society requires a Staff Officer to provide support, advocate for and act as a resource to individual members, Locals and the provincial organization. The primary role of this position is to provide assistance and advice to members on employment related issues. Other responsibilities include providing support to Locals in the collective bargaining process.
The successful candidate will have a university degree in education and superior oral and written communication skills. Applicants will also have outstanding interpersonal and organizational skills; experience in conflict resolution and problem solving; demonstrated ability to handle multiple tasks in a demanding environment; knowledge of collective agreements, collective bargaining practices, grievance procedures and employment legislation. Preference will be given to individuals with a Manitoba Teaching Certificate and Manitoba teaching experience. Involvement in Society activities will be considered an asset. Candidates must have the ability to work flexible hours including Saturdays. This position may require some provincial travel.
Terms and conditions of employment are covered by a collective agreement. The starting date for this position will be January 1, 2022 or as mutually agreed upon.
