Advanced Communicators Day: June 4th, 2026

Unions and AI Featuring Damon Romine and Simon Enoch

There is a disconnect between how our unions talk about AI and how they use AI. In this day-long session, delegates are going to think through using generative AI and find pathways forward that can form the basis of union communications best practices that staff and volunteers can share with their offices. Register now for this event!

Damon Romine
Media veteran Damon Romine is National Director, Communications & Marketing for SAG-AFTRA, an AFL-CIO union representing 160,000 actors, broadcasters and recording artists. In his role, Romine manages the union’s external communications, which includes crisis management, member relations and the award-winning magazine, SAG-AFTRA.

Simon Enoch
Simon Enoch is the senior researcher for Saskatchewan issues and policies. He holds a PhD in Communication and Culture from Toronto Metropolitan and York University. His research interests include populism, propaganda and political economy.

AI Usage Survey

Anyone who works in union communications, whether as a staff person or a volunteer, elected or not, is welcome to participate in this survey. It is OK if more than one person from your workplace fills this out and your answers are slightly different.

Step 1 of 3
Are you elected? A graphic designer? A volunteer? Tell us anything you’d like!
Drag & Drop Files, Choose Files to Upload
If you would like to remain anonymous (though we will not be matching these uploads to the person who filled it out so you are somewhat anonymous here!) please send a copy of your policy to Nora at editor@calm.ca in a few days.
