WHO YOU ARE:

Candidates will have the following qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree, or an equivalent combination of education and 3-5 years’ experience in finance, accounting, or related commerce field.
  • Working towards or holding a professional accounting credential (i.e. Chartered Accountant or Professional Accounting Designation CPA), is strongly considered as an asset.
  • Comprehensive understanding of financial regulations, accounting principles, and financial management best practices.
  • Strong analytical skills, problem-solving, and decision-making skills. High level of accuracy and attention to detail.
  • Proficiency in ACCPAC software and working in an automated office environment using most features of Microsoft Office 365 such as: Word, Excel, Power point, Outlook, TEAMS, and internal databases.
  • Experience leading full cycle audit processes.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills and ability to translate financial data into actionable insights.
  • Integrity and ethical conduct in financial matters.

Candidates will have the following primary duties and the knowledge, skills and abilities to complete them:

  • Lead budgeting, forecasting, and variance analysis to support sound financial planning.
  • Prepare, reconcile, and maintain journal entries, ledgers, and bank statements in line with GAAP.
  • Generate accurate monthly, quarterly, and year-end financial reports for multiple business units.
  • Coordinate and support internal and external audit processes, including post-audit improvements.
  • Conduct financial and cash flow analysis to support strategic decision-making and liquidity management.
  • Identify and resolve discrepancies across financial data, reports, and subledgers.
  • Ensure compliance with financial regulations and contribute to risk assessment and mitigation strategies.
  • Champion enhancements to financial systems and technology to improve reporting and efficiency.
  • Complete statutory filings, including T4s and T4As, with accuracy and timeliness.
  • Collaborate with SGEU finance team members and provide support across payroll, finance, and special initiatives.

HOURS OF WORK:

This term position will be headquartered in Regina, Saskatchewan. The standard hours of work for this position, designated as Office Employee, is five (5) days one week, four (4) days the next, within SGEU’s hours of operation from 8:00 am to 5:00 pm.
