Communications Officer
The Government Services Union (GSU), a component of the Public Service Alliance of Canada (PSAC), is seeking a talented and bilingual Communications Officer to join its National Office team in Ottawa. Reporting to the Director of Communications, Political Action & Administration, the Communications Officer plays a key role in developing and delivering communications strategies that engage members, support campaigns and initiatives, and strengthen the union’s public profile.
The successful candidate will be responsible for producing and coordinating a wide range of communications materials, including digital content, publications, social media, website updates, and media relations activities. They will provide strategic communications advice to elected leaders and staff while helping ensure consistent, high-quality bilingual communications across the organization.
Qualifications
The ideal candidate will have:
- Significant experience in communications, including writing, editing, strategic planning, and media relations;
- Experience managing websites, social media platforms, and digital communications tools;
- Strong knowledge of communications best practices, accessibility standards, and digital engagement strategies;
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English and French;
- Experience working in a union, advocacy, political, or member-based organization is considered an asset.
